| Johnny
Mitchell
was
the
first
round
selection
made
of
the
New
York
Jets,
and
15th
player
taken
overall,
in
the
1992
draft.
This
selection
made
Johnny
one
of
the
highest
sophomores
drafted
in
the
history
of
the
NFL.
Johnny’s
impressive
combination
of
power,
speed,
size,
agility
and
great
hands
make
him
an
excellent
all-around
athlete.
Said
Jets
GM
Dick
Steinberg.
“he
is
an
excellent
runner
after
he
catches
the
ball.
He’s
an
explosive
blocker…The
real
positive
thing
about
Johnny
is
that
he
loves
football.
He
loves
to
win
and
will
do
anything
to
be
a
great
football
player.”
Steinberg
further
stated
Johnny’s
athletic
skills
will
enable
the
Jets
to
“add
another,
different
dimension
to
what
we
do”.
An
example
of
Johnny’s
great
athletic
skill
is
his
ability
to
throw
a
spiral
pass
50
yards
with
either
arm.
In
1993
Johnny
enjoyed
an
excellent
year
for
the
New
York
Jets.

6
touchdown
receptions.
Johnny’s
16.2
average
yards
per
catch
and
6
touchdowns
led
the
Jets
in
both
categories.
Johnny’s
speed
and
overall
athletic
ability
contributed
to
his
being
among
the
top
receivers
in
the
AFC
for
touchdowns
and
yards
per
catch.
Johnny’s
three
touchdown
reception
game
against
the
Philadelphia
Eagles
was
one
of
the
greatest
accomplishments
ever
for
a
New
York
Jets
tight
end.
The
1994
season
shall
be
an
exciting
one
for
the
Jets
and
Johnny
as
many
feel
that
Johnny
will
reach
All-Pro
status
at
the
age
of
23.
Johnny
attended
the
University
of
Nebraska.
His
accomplishments
included
being
selected
to
the
UPI
All
–American
team
following
his
sophomore
season
in
which
he
led
his
team
with

and
tied
the
season

tight
end
with

Johnny’s
talents
extend
beyond
the
football
field.

was
named
a
Philips
GG
Academics
All-American
because
of
his
