to know that TheraSeed® is being recognized
as an industry leader in the treatment and

The
agreement represents another significant and
strategic step for Theragenics' previously
stated plan to make TheraSeed® available through
a variety of non-exclusive distribution channels.

and in-field technical support for TheraSeed®

We are excited about establishing a relationship
with Theragenics, the market leader in radioactive
palladium seeds, and we are confident that

THERAGENICS
ANNOUNCES EARLY TERMINATION OF INDIGO DISTRIBUTION
PACT
Buford,
Ga. (December 6, 2000), Theragenics Corporation
(NYSE: TGX), announced today that the Company
and Indigo Medical, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson
company, have agreed to accelerate the termination
of Indigo's distribution rights for TheraSeed®
effective close of business January 5, 2001.
Theragenics had previously announced that
Indigo had exercised its right to terminate
its distribution of TheraSeed® under the existing
contract, which would have been effective
August 10, 2001. Letters are already in the
mail to TheraSeed® customers explaining the
transition.
"We
are pleased with Indigo's decision to accelerate
their exit from the agreement. We believe
this is prudent and represents a positive
move for both organizations. This gives Theragenics
the opportunity to accelerate its efforts
to restructure its distribution channels.
Going forward, TheraSeed® will be available
through the group of fine distributors we
have assembled, as well as directly from the
Company to the extent existing customers prefer,"
stated M. Christine Jacobs, Theragenics' chairman,
president and CEO.
As
a result of the accelerated agreement, Theragenics
has agreed to waive any capital carrying costs
that Indigo would otherwise be obligated to
pay. These carrying costs are calculated by
applying Theragenics' bank-borrowing rate
to the cost of cyclotrons already purchased
but not being used to full capacity to support
product sales. Since this calculation is dependent
on actual product sales, the actual amount
of carrying costs waived cannot be determined.

Except
for historical information contained herein,
the matters discussed in the press release
are forward looking statements, including:
Theragenics' restructuring of distribution
channels of Indigo TheraSeed® sales, assistance
from Indigo during its transition out of TheraSeed®
sales, and acceleration of termination being
a prudent and positive move. Actual results
may differ materially for a variety of factors,
including, among other things, Theragenics'
execution of marketing plans, competitors'
execution of their own marketing strategies,
TheraSeed's® distributors' success in converting
Indigo's customer base to their accounts,
reimbursement changes, price competition,
the state of the general healthcare industry
as a whole, Indigo resources and cooperation
during the transition phase and other factors
set forth from time to time in the Company's
Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
