Chin & Cheek Augmentation

Many people who could benefit from chin augmentation never realize it, because they never see themselves in profile. Chin augmentation (genioplasty, or mentoplasty) can strengthen the appearance of a receding chin by increasing its projection. Simultaneously, it can create better harmony between the chin and other facial features for a more balanced profile.

There are two techniques for adding prominence and contour to your chin. One, performed through an incision inside the mouth, requires cutting and advancing the chin bone. The other approach involves insertion of an implant. The incisions to insert the implants may be made inside the mouth or on the underside of the chin. In the latter case, surgery usually will leave a faint scar that is barely visible underneath the chin.

Similarly, in some cases the cheekbones may be augmented by placing an implant over them. They look and feel natural. This is usually performed through an incision inside the mouth, but it may be done also through a lower eyelid incision.

After a chin or cheek augmentation, you will most likely be up and about the same day as surgery and back to work within 7 to 10 days. A soft diet is required for a few days after surgery to help in proper healing. The moderate discomfort can be controlled with medication.

These two procedures provide immediate and effective results.
