Brow Lift

The aging process has significant effects on the forehead. This process results in wrinkling and loss of tone similar to other areas of the face. The eyebrows begin to sag and this aggravates the problem of excess skin in the upper eyelids. Together, these problems result in a tired or sad look. A tertiary problem is the deepening of the horizontal expression lines and of the "frown" lines between the eyebrows. The forehead lift is designed to correct these problems.

The operation can be performed by itself or in conjunction with other procedures like a facelift or a blepharoplasty. It is performed under local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia. The incisions can be placed at the hairline or behind the hairline depending on the needs of every patient and factors such as density of hair, height of forehead and hairstyles. Changes are made also to the deep muscles in order to resolve the problems more permanently and then the excess skin is trimmed and sutured to give a fresher, youthful appearance.

Some patients may be candidates for an endoscopic forehead lift, which requires several smaller incisions. During the preoperative discussions the most appropriate procedure for you will be selected with Dr. Guiloff and Dr. DeLange.

After surgery expect temporary swelling and bruising of the forehead and around the eyes. There will also be some numbness of portions of the scalp, which can be prolonged. Most patients have their sutures removed at 7 days and are ready to return to work at that time. Most patients are very happy with the results of their forehead lift and your new look should last for many years.
